Barndominiums are popular around our farming communities, and for good reason: durable metal construction, wide-open layouts, and a lot of flexibility. If you are considering one, here is what to think through first.
How You Will Use It
Barndominiums range from mostly-shop-with-living-quarters to a full custom home with a workshop attached. Getting clear on the mix up front drives the whole design. See our pole barns and barndominiums page.
Finishing It Out
Living in a metal building comfortably means insulation, wiring, plumbing, and interior finishes done right. The shell is the easy part; the finish-out is where a good builder earns their keep.
Site and Foundation
The slab and footings are the foundation of everything. We build to the 2023 Florida Building Code for our wind zone, with proper site prep so the structure lasts.
Plan for the Future
Even if you start simple, tell your builder your long-term plans so the footings, framing, and utilities are ready for it. That makes finishing out or expanding far easier later.
